Trust & security

Built with student privacy and school trust in mind

ClassKite is made for classrooms, so protecting student data is part of how it works — not a box ticked at the end. Here's exactly how we handle privacy and security.

What we promise — and what we don't do

Every point below reflects our live Privacy Policy and how the product is actually built.

We don't sell personal information

ClassKite is funded by subscriptions, not advertising. We do not sell your personal information, and the product carries no third-party ads.

Operated on EU infrastructure

ClassKite runs on infrastructure located in the European Union, and we process data under EU/UK GDPR legal bases.

Encryption in transit

Connections to ClassKite are served over HTTPS, so data is encrypted in transit between devices and our servers.

Passwords are hashed, never stored in plain text

Account passwords are stored only as salted bcrypt hashes — we never keep your password itself.

Role-based access

Accounts are scoped by classroom role. Teachers work with their own classes; school admins manage teachers, classes, and seats from a separate admin console.

Retention and deletion

Learning content and classroom activity are kept while the account, class, or school is active, and are deleted or anonymised when no longer required.

For school leaders

Adopting a classroom tool means trusting it with student information. Here's why ClassKite is safe to bring to your department or school:

  • ClassKite is built for classrooms, so student privacy is part of the product, not an afterthought.
  • Data is processed under recognised GDPR legal bases, and we never sell personal information or run ads.
  • You get clear policies you can share with parents and review with your data-protection lead before rolling out.

For IT & admins

Encrypted connections

All traffic is served over HTTPS (TLS).

Secure credentials

Passwords stored as salted bcrypt hashes; sign-in is rate-limited.

Scoped access

Role-based accounts (student, teacher, school admin, super admin) limit what each user can see and do.

EU hosting & monitoring

EU infrastructure with access controls and monitoring in place.
