See every student's progress in real time
The Live Student Grid shows your whole class on one screen: each student's status, who's struggling or has asked for help, who's active or away, and how far each has got. It updates as they work.
The Live Student Grid is part of class analytics, included with Teacher Plus and the School plan.
The problem
In a busy room you can't be everywhere. By the time you notice a student who has been stuck for five minutes, the moment to help has passed, and the quiet ones may never ask.
Your whole class, live, on one screen
As students practise, the grid fills in for everyone at once: in progress, done, or flagged for help, plus a 'struggling' signal when a student keeps getting the same question wrong. Each card shows whether the student is Active, Away, Offline or has Left, with the reason a student is away (the page was hidden, focus left the page, or they left required full screen), plus questions completed and score, so you can go straight to the students who need you.
How it works
- 1
Start a live session
Open a practice and the grid appears for your class.
- 2
Watch it fill in
Every student's status and progress update live as they work.
- 3
Spot who needs you
Struggling and flagged students stand out at once.
- 4
Reteach on the spot
Help one student, or bring the class back together, before the lesson ends.
In the classroom
Halfway through a quiz, the grid flags three students after repeated wrong answers on question 4. The teacher pauses, reteaches that one idea on the board, and watches the cards turn green before moving on.
An illustrative example of how a lesson can run, not a customer case study.

Frequently asked questions
What does the grid show?
Each student's status (in progress, done, flagged), a 'struggling' signal for repeated wrong answers, help flags, presence (Active, Away, Offline or Left), questions completed and score, all updating live. In an SBQ quiz, scores and the struggling signal stay hidden until you release the results, and each card counts the answers given after the student left the page.
How do I know why a student is away?
The card says what the browser observed: "Page hidden", "Focus left the page" or "Exited required full screen". It reports what happened on the device, not why, so it is a prompt to check in rather than a verdict.
What's the difference between Offline and Left?
Offline means the student's connection dropped while ClassKite was on their screen. They stay Offline for up to five minutes and come straight back when the connection returns. Left means they closed the practice or went elsewhere. A short blip never shows as Left.
Does it update in real time?
Yes. Updates stream as students work, with a short automatic refresh as a fallback.
Which plan includes it?
It's part of class analytics, included with Teacher Plus and on the School plan for every covered teacher.
