Reports for Every Live and Self-Practice Session

Marking tells you how a class did, but only after you have done it. In ClassKite, every practice your class completes, whether it runs live in the lesson or as self-practice at home, produces its own detailed report automatically. There is nothing to collect and nothing to add up. This guide explains what the reports show and how to use them.

Every session, recorded automatically

Each time you run a live practice or open a practice for self-practice, ClassKite records it as a session. Open Reports, choose a class, and you will see:

Class totals: the number of sessions, how many have closed, and how many students are in the class.
A score trend: a chart showing how the class's scores are moving from one session to the next.
A sessions list: every session for the class, newest first, with its date, the practice, and how many students took part and how many mastered it.

Live sessions and self-practice sessions appear in the same list. Self-practice sessions carry a Self-practice label and SBQ sessions an SBQ label, so you can tell them apart at a glance while still seeing classwork and homework side by side.

Inside a session report

Expand any session to see its summary: how many students took part, how many mastered the practice, the average score, and two measures that together tell you far more than a single mark.

Right first time shows how much the class answered correctly at the first attempt. It is the clearest sign of what students already knew.
Solved shows how much they answered correctly in the end, after trying again. The gap between the two shows where students needed several attempts to get there.

A row for every student

Below the summary is a table with a row for every student in the class, showing their status, score, questions completed, attempts, right first time and solved.

Students who never started are listed too, at the bottom, so nobody slips through unnoticed.
Retakes are clear. If a student is retaking a practice, the report marks it, and the figures describe their current attempt.
Live attendance. For live and SBQ sessions, you can also see how many times each student left the session or stepped away from it.

During a live session, you can also open an individual student's attempt history to see each answer they gave and whether it was right.

SBQ sessions

For a session run in SBQ mode, the report shows a score percentage instead of right first time, plus a count of students who have finished. You can also release the results to students from the report, or hide them again, whenever you choose.

Exporting your data

One session: click the download icon beside any session to save it as a CSV file.
A whole class: choose Download reports, pick a date range and the types of practice to include (live session, SBQ or self-practice), and ClassKite builds an Excel workbook with a summary sheet and a sheet for each practice type.

Both are handy for department meetings, parents' evenings or your school's own records.

What students see

Students have their own My Reports page, showing the classes they belong to, the sessions they have practised, their average score, a score trend and their answers in each session. It means they can follow their own progress, not just you.

Frequently asked questions

Are self-practice sessions reported too?

Yes. Every self-practice session gets its own report and appears in the same list as your live sessions, labelled "Self-practice".

Is there a gradebook?

No. ClassKite focuses on session and student reports rather than a traditional gradebook. The CSV and Excel exports make it easy to bring results into whatever your school already uses.

Which plan includes reports?

Teacher reports are part of class analytics, included with ClassKite Plus and on the School plan for every covered teacher.
