ClassKite vs Classkick

ClassKite and Classkick: two different tools

The names are two letters apart and both work with your own PDFs, but they are separate products from different companies. ClassKite is built around teaching live from the page and practice that marks itself. Classkick is built around students working on assignment pages while you watch and reply.

Teaching from your PDFs, student layers and running practice are free on Teacher Basic. The Live Student Grid, Reports and the Gradebook are part of class analytics, included with Teacher Plus and the School plan.

The problem

Classkick turns PDFs, slides, images or Google Docs into assignments. Students solve, write and draw on the pages, and you watch their work appear and reply with drawings, text, audio or AI help. That suits work where you want to read each student's working. If you teach by working through the page on the board yourself, then check understanding with questions that mark themselves, you want the lesson and the practice in one place.

Teach from the page, then let the practice mark itself

In ClassKite you upload the PDF and teach from it on the board. Your writing reaches every student's device as you write, and follow-me paging keeps their screens on your page. Each student has their own layer of the same pages for working, which you can open to leave private feedback. To check understanding, send a practice: answers are marked automatically, and the Gradebook adds the results up into an overall grade for each student. With Teacher Plus or the School plan, the Live Student Grid shows who is stuck while they answer.

How it works

  1. 1

    Upload your PDFs

Upload your PDFs, including slide decks exported as PDF. Nothing is converted or rebuilt.

  2. 2

    Teach and write live

Work through the page on the board. Students' screens follow your page and show your writing as it happens.

  3. 3

    Check understanding

Send a practice to the class. Answers are marked automatically, and in an ordinary practice students see at once whether they were right.

  4. 4

    Follow up

Open a student's layer to write feedback on their working. With Teacher Plus, Reports and the Gradebook add the results up.

In the classroom

A maths teacher works through a past-paper question on the board while every screen follows, then sends a six-question practice on the same method. It is marked as students answer, and the teacher opens the layers of the two students who got it wrong to circle the step where their working went astray.

What you get

Your writing on every screen

Your strokes reach students' devices live, and follow-me paging keeps everyone on your page.

A layer for every student

Students write their working on their own copy of the page. Only they and you can see it.

Practice that marks itself

Six question types, marked automatically: multiple choice, true/false, fill-in-the-blank (word or number), matching and jumbled sentence.

A Gradebook from the results

Every practice adds up into an overall grade per student, with report cards. Part of Teacher Plus and the School plan.

Quizzes under quiz conditions

Run a one-attempt SBQ on any plan. You see when a student leaves the page or copies a question.

Free for students

Students join with your code and never pay. There are no per-student charges.

Frequently asked questions

Is ClassKite the same as Classkick?

No. They are separate products from different companies. ClassKite is at classkite.com and Classkick is at classkick.com, and an account on one does not work on the other.

When is Classkick the better fit?

When students should write, draw and explain freely on the page and you want to reply to that work as it happens, including by audio; or when you want an AI helper that guides students inside an assignment, or a library of ready-made assignments. ClassKite has no assignment library and no AI helper for students, and its questions are auto-marked types only, with no free-text answers. Classkick lists rostering and LMS syncs; ClassKite does not connect to an LMS. (Compared with Classkick's own website, checked 25 October 2026.)

Can I see students' work while they do it?

Yes. On every plan you can open a student's layer to see their working on the page and write feedback beside it. With Teacher Plus or the School plan, the Live Student Grid shows every student's progress through a practice as they answer, with help flags and a struggling signal.

Do students need an account?

Yes, a free one, with their own email address. A student creates it when they first join a class with its code, or you import a class list and ClassKite creates the accounts with a first-time password that each student changes when they sign in. Students never pay.
